Dock Ellis D day

Forty three years ago on this day, Dock Ellis was in the midst of throwing a no hitter. There had been 168 previous no hitters and there would be 126 more, but never has there been a no hitter thrown under the influence of LSD….except when Dock Ellis took the mound on June 12, 1970.

We celebrate more than the gush of electric stadium swarm or the heck with it….only Dock knows the details. We celebrate more than his defiant hair curlers and standing up for player’s rights. We celebrate the letting his “freak flag fly” and we’ll keep doing it every 12th of June.

Enjoy the after glow and happy Dock Ellis D day….

I grew up in Milwaukee and have been a Milwaukee Brewers baseball fan for as long as I can remember.
